September 19th - Parent Workshop
"10 Traits of a Healthy Parent" by Dr. Ron Davis. Childcare and dinner provided.
Listen to a past Parent Seminar
Description: Did you know that today's parents are the first generation to be raising children with devices in their hands? We all know that our children are growing up in a time when social media, texting, iPads, and cell phones are rapidly altering our habits in how we socialize, relax, communicate, and gain knowledge. What are we supposed to do with the often conflicting messages about the benefits and costs of digital technology? Is resistance futile, or is there a way to raise technologically-savvy children who also know how to be present and live well? Felicia Song, a Christian sociologist/associate professor at Westmont College, who is deep in the parenting trenches herself, will discuss what recent studies have found about the life impacts of technology, consider the theological resources available for guiding our parenting in this area, and offer practical suggestions for establishing healthy digital practices.
